How can I freely speak?

How do I get rid of this lump in my throat?

How do I unstifled myself?

Was a question that I got.

And in this video, I’m going to answer that.

I’m going to give you one quick fix technique at the end of this video, and I’m first going to give you a bit of perspective.

So the lump in the throat is simply a social anxiety symptom.

And the news that you probably don’t want to hear is that you’re unlikely going to fix that permanently with the quick fix that I’m going to give you, which is why it’s a quick fix and not a real fix.

And what you’re looking for, if you ask me, is to get to a place where that lump in your throat doesn’t come up anymore at all, and where you can just freely speak.

Now, in order to be able to do that, you need to actually work on overcoming your social anxiety because lump in the throat, hard racing, being tense, being rigid, sweating, heat in the face, pupils dilated, concern, worried — all of that are social anxiety symptoms. And so you need to tackle the root of the problem.

So your brain is perceiving some kind of a threat for whatever reason, it doesn’t feel safe to be yourself.

And once you get rid of this perception of threat, you will feel safe to say whatever comes to mind to say whatever you want.

I won’t go into that. But I’ll give you a couple of tips that may be related to the throat.

The first one is: Speaking Your Truth.

I’m not a chakra expert, but I know that this is your throat chakra is…guess what? In the throat. And it has to do with speaking your truth.

So do you feel safe speaking your truth?

Is it okay for you to speak your truth?

Do you feel worthy and deserving to speak your truth?

If not, why not?

Your answers to that question will give you insights on what to work on, what to focus the tapping on.

Further, often, when we cry, we have a lump in our throat, and especially when we’re pushing away to tears, we have a lump in our throat, it’s difficult to speak when you’re crying when you’re intensely crying, you can hardly get a word out.

When I’m talking with a client, and he gets really intensely sad, I can say “repeat this”, we are not able to repeat it right. So at that moment, I’m like, okay, just allow yourself to feel that sadness, allow yourself to be with that experience.

And the lump in the throat as they keep tapping as they keep giving themselves permission to have a sadness experience, the sadness will come and the sadness will go, because like, all emotions, there’s a peak to them.

Emotions are like clouds in the sky, they come and they pass or like waves on the ocean, they come and they peak, they have a peak, and then they fall down.

It’s not a bottomless pit, there is an end to it.

So you just want to be in a place of acceptance of these emotions and give them permission to process to complete their cycle. Because a lot of unprocessed sadness will just sit there in your throat and it can come up.

So this is what it may have to do with speaking your truth, sadness and social anxiety symptom itself.

So what’s the quick fix?

Before I share the technique, let me first say who it is from, and where I got it from.

So the technique comes from Steve Wells. He’s a psychologist, friend of mine and someone who I’ve studied on, brilliant guy. He’s one of the pioneers in the tapping industry. And he developed his own technique, his own approach called Intention Tapping or IEP (Intention Based Energy Process).

And one of the intention based statements that is very common in IEP is…

“I restore the right energy flow to…fill in the blank.”

And so what you can do is you can focus on your throat when you’re noticing that particular restriction.

And then while you tap on any particular point, say:

“I restore the right energy flow to my throat.”

And then as you’ve said that it is an intention, then you just observe what happens without trying to make anything happen. You’re just watching curiously seeing what’s going to happen. And in many of the cases, you will notice that it will do something positive.

It might dissolve and completely, it might shift a little bit.
You might have a different emotion come up, your attention might be different.

But in most cases, it begins to soften and it begins to become less of a problem.

Try that out and see if that works for you.

And remember, this is just one particular technique. One particular simple, quick fix, that definitely isn’t a full solution.

In fact, this technique is what you’re using to address all of the smaller bits that make up your social anxiety.

Alright, so I hope this helped you.
