David describes the 5 innate, natural needs we come into the world with. And he goes into detail on how these not being met by our parents cause our emotional wounds.
David goes on to share ways in which our emotional wounds damage our current relationships, and how healing your emotional wounds benefits you in feeling calm and present in social situations.
David Richo is a psychotherapist, teacher, workshop leader, and writer.
He received his BA in psychology in 1962, his MA in counseling psychology in 1969, and his PhD in clinical psychology the year of my birth, in 1984. Since 1976, David has been a licensed marriage, family, and child counselor.
David is known for drawing on Buddhism, poetry, and Jungian perspectives in his work. He’s the author of many books, one of which being “When the Past Is Present – Healing the Emotional Wounds That Sabotage Our Relationships”.
“When our needs were not fulfilled we would become fearful of being with people because they could misattune and betray our needs the same way our parents did. And we might also on the other hand have such a bottomless pit of needs (for the needs that weren’t fulfilled) that we become a burden for anyone who wants to be in a relationship with us because we demand a lot more attention, acceptance, appreciation, etc than an ordinary adult would ask for.”

I would really appreciate a simple (one sentence is enough) review in iTunes as this is seen as a “stamp of approval” which causes iTunes to know this show is great and will therefore be shown to more people who’re struggling to beat their social anxiety.
A question I am asked most frequently, is “how long will it take to overcome my social anxiety?”.
And the short answer is that it depends on your situation. But most people can overcome the bulk of your social anxiety in 1-2 months, investing about 30min of tapping on the right issues.
I’ve created a PDF to help you shorten the journey, and to uncover some of the right issues to target your tapping at. This PDF is based on coaching socially phobic clients since 2009, and it’s called “12 Shortcuts to Social Confidence”.
Each shortcut shortens your journey, getting you social anxiety-free much faster.
